The Yuri Gagarin collector coin transports us back to the advent of space travel.

A space coin in honour of the first space traveller. It is exactly 50 years since man began the conquest of space. Order a souvenir of the dawning of the space-travel era for yourself or as a gift!

Soviet citizen Yuri Gagarin (9.3.1934 – 27.3.1968) made history on 12 April, 1961 by becoming the first man in history to conduct a flight in space. Mint of Finland has now produced a collector coin in honour of the space traveller.

A voyage around the globe

The legendary flight around the globe by Gagarin, a cosmonaut and Soviet air force major, lasted 108 minutes. The flight took Gagarin to a peak altitude of 327 kilometres above the surface of the earth, while shooting him to universal fame.

So renowned was Gagarin that even Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain invited him to visit Buckingham Palace. Queen Elizabeth's image is on the reverse side of the Yuri Gagarin collector coin.
