The Mint of Finland brand was brightened up in its jubilee year. The company was established 150 years ago by order of Emperor Alexander II.
The company's look and logo were renewed and modernised.
Mint of Finland is the leading company in its field in Scandinavia and the Baltic region. Its activities include the design, marketing and minting of coins. The company is owned by the Finnish state and includes two business units: Circulation Coins and Collector Products. Mint of Finland produces metal circulation coins, jubilee and special coins, sets of coins, medals, badges of honour and jewellery. The group employs about 250 people and exports its products to nearly 40 countries.
“The secret of Mint of Finland's success has been to always make changes at the right time. Our solid reputation is based on satisfied customers, motivated personnel and excellent know-how in the field of design, technology and project management,” Mint of Finland's CEO Maarit Aarni-Sirviö says.
Mint of Finland's design is based on three principles – the factory, Finnish traditions and handicraft. The look aims at clarity, efficiency, care, frugality, practicality and honesty. The company's new logo has been influenced by the Finnish coat of arms, which depicts a lion.
“Among the mints of other countries, Mint of Finland can be distinguished by its new look, which emphasises its Finnish roots, Nordic character and the scope of the company's international business activities. Few companies can boast development as closely linked to the history of the Finnish nation as that of Mint of Finland. We have participated in all of the country's significant turning points. When Finland won its independence, the lion was minted, and the Finnish currency and the lion have been inseparable ever since,” Maarit Aarni-Sirviö says.
During the jubilee year, Mint of Finland will issue five new commemorative coins. In April, it will open an online boutique, and in October, Finns can discover how coins are minted at an exposition at the Finnish Science Centre Heureka.
