Finnish by origin, The Mint of Finland has evolved into a pan-Nordic consortium. The establishment of the mint is integrally linked to the birth of the Finnish nation and its history spans more than a thousand years.
In celebration of design capital year
A touch of luxury combined with a portion of practicality – this is the secret of best designs. In 2012, the eyes of the design world will turn towards Finland and its World Design Capital, Helsinki. Mint of Finland ushers in 2012 by commemorating Finnish design and knowhow with a collector coin.

Mint of Finland and the Ministry of Finance are planning to release in the spring a collector coin for equality and tolerance. The nominal value of the coin is EUR 20. The jury selected a piece by art student Katri Piri as the theme of the coin. As experts on the theme, the jury consulted the Ombudsman for Equality Pirkko Mäkinen as well as Frank Johansson, director of Amnesty International – Finnish Section.
