This year, Mint of Finland celebrates design, leading the way to the future with the rest of Finland. The company commemorates the year by launching new gift packages for its collector coins and representing Finland in Berlin with a highly visual exhibition created by Finland's top designers – not to mention the company stands to receive international recognition for its coin design. On 3 February 2012, Mint of Finland launched its 2012 Purple Programme at the World Money Fair in Berlin. This year Mint of Finland will issue collector coins in honour of tolerance in the world, the national sport of Finland, as well as groundbreaking contributions to medicine. Read more

Latest addition to the Ethical collector coins set
A symbol of equality and tolerance
Mint of Finland and the Ministry of Finance are planning to release in the spring a collector coin for equality and tolerance. The nominal value of the coin is EUR 20. The jury selected a piece by art student Katri Piri as the theme of the coin. As experts on the theme, the jury consulted the Ombudsman for Equality Pirkko Mäkinen as well as Frank Johansson, director of Amnesty International – Finnish Section. Read more

The ice hockey coin encouraged over 1,300 ice hockey and coin fans around Europe to cast their vote. Petri Neuvonen's entry, "Face-off", was the most popular theme. The look of the new ice hockey coin captures the spirit of ice hockey. Read more

Fabergé's Finnish legacy in the spotlight
A piece of Finnish luxury straight from the imperial court. In 2012, Mint of Finland and the Ministry of Finance will commemorate the Finnish Fabergé workmaster who led the manufacture of the most significant Fabergé pieces. Henrik Wigström and European Artists collector coins will be launched on 3 February 2012 at the World Money Fair in Berlin. Read more
Collector coin for the Finnish Year of Design
Inspiration a defining moment for a designer
This year, during Helsinki’s tenure as the World Design Capital, international attention will focus on Finnish design. Mint of Finland and the Ministry of Finance are planning to issue a collector coin in honour of the year of design. A piece by designer Henna Lamberg, depicting inspiration ‒ the motivator of all creative work – has been chosen as the coin's theme. Read more

Have your say on the design of the Ice Hockey World Championships 2012 collector coin
Today, Mint of Finland has opened a public vote to decide the design of the Ice Hockey World Championships 2012 collector coin. Visitors to the Mint of Finland website can vote for their favourite from 10 potential coin designs until 19 January. The design with the most votes will be minted on the coin, which will be issued on 2 April 2012. Vote for your favourite here. Read more
