A collector coin with the theme Peace and Security is realised on the basis of Tapio Kettunen’s proposal ”Cease fire, pigeons in the porthole”.
The Collector Coin committee set by the Finnish Ministry of Finance arranged a public competition for the designing of the collector coin, and received a record-braking 72 proposals. The competition was carried out in two phases with the focus more on the views and message than the technical skill. The competitors were encouraged to look for new solutions and effects (form, colour, hole, other materials). Read more

The Collector Coin committee set by the Finnish Ministry of Finance arranged a public competition for the designing of the silver collector coin, and received 15 proposals by the set deadline. Collector coin “Peace and Security” gets its first strike by Martti Ahtisaari. A new coin set called “Ethical Collector Coins” launches
Mint of Finland Ltd. issued a collector coin for Peace and Security. At the publication event, President Martti Ahtisaari carried out the first strike for the new coin to be produced. The collector coin is the first member of the new coin set ”Ethical Collector Coins”. In addition, this is the first time in the history of Finland when a silver collector coin with a nominal value of 20 euros is issued. Read more
