A symbol of equality and tolerance

Mint of Finland and the Ministry of Finance are planning to release in the spring a collector coin for equality and tolerance. The nominal value of the coin is EUR 20. The jury selected a piece by art student Katri Piri as the theme of the coin. As experts on the theme, the jury consulted the Ombudsman for Equality Pirkko Mäkinen as well as Frank Johansson, director of Amnesty International – Finnish Section.

Have your say on the design of the Ice Hockey World Championships 2012 collector coin

Today, Mint of Finland has opened a public vote to decide the design of the Ice Hockey World Championships 2012 collector coin. Visitors to the Mint of Finland website can vote for their favourite from 10 potential coin designs until 19 January. The design with the most votes will be minted on the coin, which will be issued on 2 April 2012. Vote for your favourite here.

A collector coin to honour the skills of the Finnish goldsmith

In spring of 2012, Mint of Finland and the Ministry of Finance are planning to issue a collector coin commemorating the skills of Finnish master goldsmiths. Henrik Wigström (1862–1923) is a worthy representative, and the coin would feature two imperial Easter eggs linked to the name of this great artisan. It would be the first time the Finnish state has recognized a goldsmith.

The new silver coin will be a public edition

A coin for the Finnish national readership

On 11 September, Mint of Finland will issue the silver Juhani Aho and Finnish Literature commemorative coin. Juhani Aho was the first professional Finnish author. The commemorative coin is in honour of all friends of Finnish literature. A public edition of the coin has been minted as an uncirculated BU-quality coin, as it uniquely has a silver content of Ag500.
