International Protection for the Baltic Sea
The Symbol of the Baltic Sea to be Designed by Secondary School Students
Our concern regarding the eutrophication of the Baltic Sea will inspire young artists this spring. Secondary school students from the Baltic Sea region will design the ethical commemorative coin for 2011. Its theme is the protection of the Baltic Sea. The contest began on 25 March 2011 and will end on 3 June 2011. Read more

Women Deserve a Commemorative Coin of Their Own
Today, equality and Finnish women were given all due respect at the launch of the Hella Wuolijoki and Equality commemorative coin. Mint of Finland gave the commemorative coin to the Minister of Equality Stefan Wallin, to Hella Wuolijoki's grandson, MP Erkki Tuomioja and to film director Juha Wuolijoki. Read more

Collector Coins to be Attractively Displayed in a Designer Box
A commemorative coin displayed in the Vitriini glass box is the latest trend in designer homes. Designed by glass artist Anu Penttinen, the Vitriini box turns commemorative coins into stylish decoration items. Mint of Finland will release all collector coins to be issued in 2011 in Iittala's bright glass packaging. Read more
A Face for the Bank of Finland 200 Years Commemorative Coin
The Swan is the Theme of the New Gold Coin
The Bank of Finland commemorative coin to be issued in May is an emblem of Finnish culture and patriotism. The Bank of Finland coin will be given an appropriately dignified look with artist Hannu Veijalainen's “Siivet kantaa” (Spread Wings) design whose symbolism hails back to the golden age of Finnish art.
