Cooperation between Mint of Finland and Iittala

Collector Coins to be Attractively Displayed in a Designer Box

A commemorative coin displayed in the Vitriini glass box is the latest trend in designer homes. Designed by glass artist Anu Penttinen, the Vitriini box turns commemorative coins into stylish decoration items. Mint of Finland will release all collector coins to be issued in 2011 in Iittala's bright glass packaging.

Iittala's glass box is a worthy package for Finnish collector coins. “The Vitriini boxes are meant for items too beautiful to hide in cupboards and collections. And now, these works of art include collector coins,” artist Anu Penttinen says.

Collector Items to be Part of Interior Design

The cooperation between Mint of Finland and Iittala was initiated when Mint of Finland was considering alternative ways to package collector coins. Traditionally, collector coins have come in special collector coin cases.

“Since we have the opportunity to manufacture unbelievably beautiful collector coins, we wanted to find a way to emphasise the statuesque quality of the coins in interior design as well. Like our Finnish collector coins, Iittala's Vitriini box is also an elegant Finnish designer item,” says Paul Gustafsson, Mint of Finland's CEO.

A Legendary Designer and a Coin for Strong Women on Display in the Vitriini Box in Early 2011

The Kaj Franck and Industrial Art collector coin, which honours a legendary Finnish designer and comes in a Vitriini box, is available at Mint of Finland's webstore for € 70. The Hella Wuolijoki collector coin, to be launched on the Day of Equality, will also be available in the Vitriini box at the webstore.
