The award-winning mint
Fame for Mint of FinlandMint of Finland received positive feedback from the friends of numismatic art, as the Amber Coin, the Peace and Security Collector Coin, the 2010 two euro collector coin, and the iPhone application Ask Kekkonen were rewarded for their beauty, design, quality, and inventiveness. Mint of Finland is pleased to receive such good feedback for its products. The products of Mint of Finland gained success in 2010 both in Finland and abroad in professional evaluations and in public surveys. Latvians voted the Amber Coin by Mint of Finland to be the most beautiful coin of 2010 The Bank of Latvia arranges an annual public survey, where the Latvians can select the most attractive coin of the year. The winner of year 2010 was the Amber Coin by Mint of Finland. The coin depicts an eye with an amber pupil. The coin was designed by Latvian Aigars Bikše. The millions of years old amber used as the pupil of the eye beautifully connects the past to the coin. The Peace and Security Collector Coin was selected as the most beautiful coin internationally in the year 2009 The Peace and Security collector coin was selected as number one in the Best Crown series of the world's most respected international numismatic competition. The Peace and Security collector coin was the opener of the Ethical collector coins set in 2009 by Mint of Finland. The coin was designed by Tapio Kettunen and it symbolizes peace as the harmony of a joyful life. Best Crown refers to the size of the coin and it is one of ten competition categories in the Krause Publications' internationally renowned ‘Coin of the Year’ competition. The winners were picked by an international jury of more than 60 members. The Lion Coin second in the series of two euro collector coins The second coin in the competition, Finnish currency 150 years collector coin, gained recognition from the French Les Amis de l´Euro association. The collectors of the euro coins selected the coin as the second most beautiful among the euro coins of year 2010. This collector coin designed by Reijo Paavilainen celebrates the 150-year-old Finnish currency. It was also the first euro coin to have Mint of Finland's new lion emblem. Ask Kekkonen made the jury smile In the respected advertising competition – The Best of the Year 2010 – the professionals of marketing communications selected Ask Kekkonen by Mint of Finland as the second best application. The Ask Kekkonen application was praised for being fun – it caused lots of smiles and laughter among the members of the jury. The high quality and simple definition were praised as well. “The persons behind the project – and especially the name of the project – provide a solid patriotic context and meaning that surpasses all others. Ask Kekkonen, if you agree,” says the jury in the evaluation. Further information:
