The Provincial Coins are Legal Tender in FinlandLike the other Finnish collector coins, Mint of Finland's coins for the Provincial coins series are legal tender in Finland. Collector coins are valid tender in the country where they were issued. The Eurozone member states are allowed to issue collector coins whose value differs from the coins of the euro coin series. Unlike the ordinary euro coins, the collector coins for the Provincial coins series have a nominal value of 5 euros. The Provincial Coins Series to Issue Nine Coins There are nine historical provinces in Finland: Åland, Tavastia, Karelia, Lapland, Ostrobothnia, Satakunta, Savonia and Uusimaa and Finland Proper. The first two coins issued for the series were the Finland Proper and the Satakunta collector coins. On 25 February, it will be Tavastia's turn. The reverse side of each Provincial coin in the series depicts the coat of arms of the historical province and the coin’s face value, €5. The obverse sides of the Provincial collector coins were designed by sculptor Nora Tapper. The nominal value of the Provincial collector coins is 5 euros, and a total of 120,000 glassy proof coins and unpolished coins will be minted. Unpolished Provincial collector coins can be exchanged in post offices. Read more about the provincial coins in here. Further information:
