The world’s most prestigious numismatic competition is looking for the most beautiful commemorative coin in the world

Vote for the most beautiful commemorative coin in the world

US publishers Krause Publications is polling its readership to find the most innovative, creative, beautiful and popular commemorative coin in the world’s most prestigious numismatic competition. The public can pick its favourite from among 15 commemorative coins issued during 2009. The ‘People’s Choice’ vote is one of eleven categories in this famous numismatic competition. One of the coins is the Peace and Security commemorative coin which was the first of the Mint of Finland’s Ethical Coins series and which earlier this year won in the category ‘Best Crown’. Publishing giants Krause Publications, and their numismatic website numismaster.com, want to know the public’s favourite 2009 commemorative coin. The public can vote for their choice on numismaster.com until 2.1.2011. To be able to vote, you must register on the site.

The winners will be announced shortly after voting ends and they will be awarded their prizes at the International Numismatic Fair in Berlin, Germany on January 30th.

Mint of Finland's Ethical Coins series is a candidate for the public vote

The 15 selected candidates come from mints all over the world. Mint of Finland’s Ethical Coins series is also in the competition as one of the fifteen candidates is the Mint’s Peace and Security commemorative coin. The coin was designed by Tapio Kettunen and it symbolizes peace as the harmony of a joyful life.

In 2010, Children and Creativity was issued as the second in the Ethical Coins series. This coin commemorates creativity as humankind’s most important quality. The collector coin was designed by 17-year old art student Roope Määttä.

The public vote is part of the internationally prestigious numismatic competition

The public vote represents the final category to be decided in the Krause Publications internationally renowned ‘Coin of the Year’ competition. Earlier this year an international jury of more than 60 members picked the winners of ten other categories. View the other categories and the winning entries here.

The Peace and security commemorative coin is one of the candidates for the public vote. The coin is the first in the Mint of Finland’s Ethical Coins series. The Peace and Security commemorative coin won earlier this year in the ‘Best Crown’ category.

The Children and creativity commemorative coin was issued in October 2010 and it is the second on the Ethic Coins series of commemorative coins. According to designer Roope Määttä, the Children and Creativity commemorative coin depicts a moment when an impossible thing comes to pass and another goal is set.
