Coinage 2017/II BU

This coinage celebrating the centenary of Finland’s independence contains the Finnish metal circulation coins for 2017 in matte or BU quality. The coins are packaged in uncirculated and freshly-minted condition. The coinage is a part of the Finland 100 programme celebrating the centennial of Finland's independence. The series includes both two-euro special coins launched in Finland’s centenary.

The Coinage 2017/II includes all metal Finnish circulation coins of 2017 in BU or matte quality, apart from the normal two-euro coin. In place of the regular two-euro piece, the set includes both two-euro special coins launched in 2017.

A run of 2.5 million two-euro special coins was released in June 2017 in honour of Finland's century of independence. The Independent Finland 100 Years special coin features a mosaic forming the cartographic image of Finland and is designed by Simon Örnberg.

The Finnish Nature special two euro coin was released in October 2017 with a mintage of half a million pieces.  The special coin depicts the full moon over the lighthouse island of Harmaja, with a crow gazing down at the world from its perch. These images symbolise the modern Finnish character – the common crow is an intelligent bird that reacts flexibly to new situations.

The special coin received its design from the winning photograph in the Blue and White special category of the Nature Photograph of the Year competition. The winning photograph was shot by Kari Auvinen.
