The Finnish Tango commemorative coin pays tribute to Finland’s tango culture. The collector coin is a part of the Finland 100 centenary programme of Finland’s independence. In line with the theme of the centenary, the design for the collector coin was created collaboratively.
An overwhelming majority of Finns voted Satumaa (the Fairytale Land) as their favourite tango. Mint of Finland’s head designer Erkki Vainio then created a face for the commemorative coin, floating on the waves of the notes to Satumaa.
This commemorative coin with a nominal value of EUR 20 is packaged in a clear protective casing, set in a commemorative coin box printed with the technical specifications of the coin.
This silver coin struck in Mint of Finland's factory in Vantaa is a part of the Finland 100 programme of the centennial year of Finland's independence. The commemorative coin has been granted the Key Flag Label of the Association for Finnish Work.
The Finnish Tango commemorative coin will be featured at the Tangomarkkinat tango festival held in Seinäjoki in July. See the festival’s website here.
